Fragrance Group has purchased Katong Plaza for $180 million, with plans to redevelop it into a hotel with 300 to 340 rooms. Controlled by billionaire James Koh, Fragrance Group and its hospitality arm, Global Premium Hotels, operate brands like Fragrance and Parc Sovereign.
In 2019, the group partnered with Accor to rebrand 13 Fragrance hotels into ibis Budget hotels. Recently, they signed another agreement with Accor to open two new hotels, including the 808-key Mövenpick Singapore, by 2027. The Katong development will enhance their growing hotel portfolio.
